Doctor Who Gets New Teaser And Release Date

Ncuti Gatwa Doctor Who New Season

A teaser trailer has been released for the new series of Doctor Who, which also confirms the release date as 11th May.

The upcoming fourteenth season is Ncuti Gatwa’s first full series as the Fifteenth Doctor, accompanied by Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. A release windowof May 2024 had already been given at the end of the 2023 Christmas Special ‘The Church on Ruby Road.’

Two episodes will come be released on BBC iPlayer in the UK at midnight ahead of their airing the following evening on BBC One, before the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final. 

For viewers in the United States, the series will launch on Disney+ at 19:00 for those on the East Coast and 16:00 on the West Coast.

The remaining episodes of the season will follow weekly. 

Showrunner Russell T Davies told the BBC that “it’s my great delight to unleash a whole new season of the Doctor and Ruby’s adventures together. Monsters! Chases! Villains! Mysteries! And a terrifying secret that’s been spanning time and space for decades. Don’t miss a second!”

Returning figures from ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ include Michelle Greenidge as Ruby’s adoptive mother Carla, Angela Wynter as Carla’s mother Cherry, and Anita Dobson as Mrs Flood. Bonnie Langford as Mel Bush and Jemma Redgrace as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart will also feature in the new season.

Before the start of Gatwa’s tenure as The Doctor, David Tennant—who starred as the Tenth Doctor between 2005 and 2008—returned to the show as the fourteenth incarnation of the popular character. He portrayed the Fourteenth Doctor for three one-off episodes prior to the Christmas special last year. 

Episodes in the new series will be directed by Ben Chessell, Jamie Donoughue, Julie Anne Robinson, and Dylan Holmes Williams. 

Doctor Who is released on 11th May 2024.
