Secrets From the ‘She-Hulk’ Press Conference

Last week we attended the global Press Conference for the upcoming series She-: Attorney At Law and now we're here to share all the juiciest details with you. Attending the conference was Tatiana Maslany, AKA , AKA She-Hulk, who plays Jen's best friend Nikki, Kat Coiro, the director of episodes 1-4 & 8-9 and executive producer as well as  who's the Head Writer and Executive Producer.

The conference opened with Tatiana talking about how “fun” it was to step into the role. “What's so great about the show is that it has all those huge Marvel elements to it. There are big set pieces, however we also deal with She-Hulk swipe dating,” and it was the sweet moments in the series that made her really excited to do the show.

As a young girl, read the She-Hulk comics as it was different from all the male comics so getting to work on the show that brought the character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was “a real dream” for her. On playing Jen's BFF Nikki, Ginger Gonzaga says “she's very free. She's that person you want who can get away with anything and encourage you to do whatever”

“The beauty of television is, unlike the movies, we actually have time and space to really sit with the character and learn more about them and really get to know them as a fully fleshed out person. And what's great about Jen Walters, She-Hulk, is that she, because of , she was able to immediately, from day one make this feel like a real human being.  You feel like she's lived a life, she has life experiences, she has relationships, she has a family and she has friends. And also, that she changes. She might feel different in the morning than she does in the evening.  She might feel different today than she does yesterday.  This is a real person who actually feels things and processes things and, like most people, has highs and lows” says Jessica Gao on what makes She-Hulk different from all the other female superheroes in the MCU.

The women were asked what their reaction was when they got the call from Marvel saying they'd be involved in the project. Ginger was excited but her puppy had just relieved herself in her living room so there were bigger things to deal with. Jessica was “elated because it was a dream job” and she'd been rejected by Marvel three times for previous projects.

A vital part of the show is She-Hulk breaking the fourth wall and Kat reveals that breaking the fourth wall is something She-Hulk has been doing for far longer than Deadpool or Fleabag. And there were lots of iterations of how she would do it. “It's like an extension of her superpower, she's like “I know I'm talking to the camera, I know you guys are watching this” and it was really exciting to get to play with this throughout the show.”

Upon being asked if they were Jennifer's best friend, which superhero would they try to set her up with, Tatiana says Adam West's Batman, and Ginger says Groot before quickly clarifying that Baby Groot is too young for her.

We guess we'll have to watch all 9 episodes of She-Hulk to see if she does end up on a date with Groot.
