Fantasia Film Festival 2022

Celebrating its 26th Edition this year, Fantasia Film Festival is set to continue bringing the weird and wonderful films to audiences thirsty for unusual cinematic experiences. Growing in popularity year on year, attracting international filmmakers and delegates from across the industry, Fantasia will also continue hosting the Frontières International Co-Production Market from 21st – 24th July.

This year the festival is spotlighting Queer Genre Cinema with a programme of ‘radical cinematic visions’ and celebrating the dynamic career of action film director John Woo, as well as curating a special programme to coincide with the 10th anniversary of House of Psychotic Women by Kier-La Janisse. Fantasia Film Festival hosted the book’s launch back in 2012 when it was named a ground-breaking masterpiece. In honour of its legacy of being “an autobiographical topography of female neurosis in horror and exploitation films,” a new expanded edition will be released at the festival. Along with panels, talks and special events, the closing night of the festival will be July Jung’s Cannes Film Festival success, Next Sohee, starring Bae Doona, about a young girl pressured to work in an abusive call centre and a detective to seeks justice for hers and other young women’s mistreatment.

With 130 features and 200+ shorts being screened at the festival this year; the Fantasia is going all out with their bold new programming.

Fantasia Film festival is on from 14th July – 3rd August, Montreal, Canada
