Marvel brought their A-Game to the San Diego Comic Con; giving a mountain of announcements about all their upcoming projects. In just an hour-long panel, we were given a huge look at the ending to Phase Four, the entirety of Phase Five and a small glimpse at Phase Six. Here is everything that was announced at Marvel's San Diego Comic Con panel!
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Streaming exclusively on Disney+, August 17th
The final TV show in Marvel's Phase Four was given a good chunk of time to at Comic Con as they dropped a brand new trailer, revealing a much clearer idea of the story. It features many familiar faces from Wong (Benedict Wong) to The Abomination (Tim Roth) while also keeping focus on Jennifer Walters' (Tatiana Maslany) story and her relationship with Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
In cinemas November 11th
What is now confirmed to be the ending to Phase Four, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever looks to be an emotionally powerful tribute to Chadwick Boseman. The trailer is filled with stunning shots and features what looks to be a stunning performance from Angela Bassett. Namor is confirmed to appear in the movie along with our first introduction to Ironheart (Dominique Thorne). This is one fantastic trailer!
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
In cinemas February 17th, 2023
While we haven't been able to see any specific footage from the third Ant-Man movie as it was only shown to guests in attendance, everything we are hearing about Quantumania sounds truly bonkers. The movie stars Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) as the movie's big villain and he will supposedly be the villain going into the upcoming Avengers movies. Bill Murray is also set to star and MODOK will be woven into the film.
Streaming exclusively on Disney+, Spring 2023
Based on the hugely successful comic book run, Secret Invasion will tell the story of the Skrulls infiltrating Earth leaving Nick Fury and others paranoid about who is human and who is a Skrull. The Skrulls were first introduced in Captain Marvel and this series will be set in the present day following Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) as they try to uncover this major conspiracy.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
In cinemas May 5th, 2023
What is there left to be said about the Guardians of the Galaxy? They are now a household name in the MCU, thanks to James Gunn's fantastic idea to turn this comic about a C-list team into a huge blockbuster movie. The movie will be the last movie featuring this team of the Guardians who will be joined by Adam Warlock (Will Poulter).
Streaming exclusively on Disney+, Summer 2023
Following the titular character that was introduced in Hawkeye, there is not much known as to the series of Echo so we will have to wait for more announcements closer to release for this one.
Loki Season 2
Streaming exclusively on Disney+, Summer 2023
This is a show that is currently being filmed with set photos rampant online showing Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson filming in London. After opening the Multiverse by killing He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), Season 1 of Loki teased Kang the Conqueror as this godly being and Season 2 will surely follow-up on what was promised in the finale.
In cinemas July 28th, 2023
The Marvels is the sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel and will have her team up with newcomers Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani). Little is known about the plot but we can promise you this will be a fun space adventure with three of the best characters in the MCU.
In cinemas November 3rd, 2023
Like most of these projects, very little is known about the upcoming Blade movie. We know Mahershala Ali will be playing the title character with Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre also set to star. The film is directed by Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli). Vampires are coming to the MCU!
Streaming exclusively on Disney+ Fall, 2023
This is a character we have not yet been introduced to in the MCU but we will very soon. Riri Williams/Ironheart (Dominique Thorne) will appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever leading to her own spinoff series next year.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos
Streaming exclusively on Disney+, Winter 2023
Formerly known as Agatha: House of Harkness, Coven of Chaos will star Kathryn Hahn as Agatha, the breakout character in WandaVision and will be getting her own series coming late next year.
Daredevil: Born Again
Streaming exclusively on Disney+, Spring 2024
You heard that right; Daredevil is officially coming to the MCU! Out of all the projects announced at SDCC, this is definitely up there as one of the more eagerly anticipated projects as Charlie Cox is returning to the role of Matt Murdock. Vincent D'Onofrio will also return as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin which only adds to the anticipation following his brief appearance in last year's Hawkeye. Plus, departing the standard 6 episode formula for most MCU series, Daredevil: Born Again will be 18 episodes long.
Captain America: New World Order
In cinemas May 3rd, 2024
After Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) earned the title of Captain America in the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the fourth Captain America movie will follow Sam Wilson as the new superhero.
In cinemas July 26th, 2024
What is essentially Marvel's equivalent to the Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts will follow a team of shady individuals having to work together as a team. The team itself has not been announced yet but expect people like John Walker, Baron Zemo, Ghost, Yelena and others to be part of this government team. This will also be the final film in Phase Five.
In cinemas November 8th, 2024
When it comes to the Fantastic Four, the team has always got the short end of the stick as their movies have never been all that good. The original 2000s movies have had audiences divided over the years while Fan4stic is called “one of the worst superhero movies of all time” by many. Kevin Feige is trying to make this film special by getting a well-known director at the helm and a great cast, which will likely be announced at D23 in September. This will be the first film in Phase Six.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
In cinemas May 5th, 2025
Marvel dropped the bombshell by announcing not one but two brand new Avengers movies for 2025, releasing six months apart. The first is The Kang Dynasty which confirms Kang is the big villain of this next era in the MCU (like Thanos was for the Infinity Saga).
Avengers: Secret Wars
In cinemas November 8th, 2025
It is official: Avengers: Secret Wars will be the next Avengers: Endgame. These two Avengers movies are what Marvel have spent laying the groundwork for during Phase Four and will be building towards over the next three years.
As for all the projects that were announced, there was a lot that Kevin Feige talked about in just over an hour. He also confirmed that Phase Four to Phase Six is called The Multiverse Saga. This seemed fairly obvious since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness released only a few months ago. There will likely be more Marvel announcements at Disney's own D23 (probably updates on the future of the Eternals, Shang-Chi, Thor and Doctor Strange) which will fill in the blanks for Phase Six. There is a lot of Marvel coming our way over the next few years!
