The presentation on the 4K disc is, simply, fantastic. The clarity in the HDR has made the film look better than it did on a huge screen. We are introduced to this interpretation of Gotham, showcases the bright lights of the city while showing the crime-ridden streets. It is genuinely breathtaking to look at. This is a highlight in the film as it shows that a hefty amount of detail went into making Gotham look incredible for home viewing.

Another moment in the film where the video quality truly stood out is during the third act where Batman uses a flare in a dark room. The lighting, which is enhanced with great HDR, shows the red and lights up the entire image.

The Dolby Vision also helps enhance the black levels brilliantly as it is used perfectly to help create the dark atmosphere that Matt Reeves is purposefully trying to build. The sequences in the Iceberg Lounge are also brilliantly lit and enhanced with the booming colours of the club and Atmos track.

The sound quality is also top-notch for this disc. The movie boasts a superb Dolby Atmos audio mix which help build the atmosphere. There are multiple sequences in the rain where the audio helps immerse you into the setting and in the final act of the film where water is everywhere, the track makes you hear those ‘sloshes' as people are walking through it.

Ten out of ten audio and picture quality disc

The car chase between Batman and Penguin (Colin Farrell) is also a fantastic moment in the film to highlight the excellent audio mix. The rumblings of the Batmobile mixed with Michael Giacchino's score will truly make your room shake with how loud the scene goes. This really is a ten out of ten audio and picture quality disc.

However, to add to the fact that the presentation of the 4K UHD Blu-ray is amazing, the movie is also one of the best films of 2022 so far. The film has everything you want from not just a comic-book movie but a drama too. There is pulsating fight sequences, investigations, murder, corruption and fantastic performances from everyone involved. Robert Pattinson truly owns the role as Bruce Wayne/Batman; he is brooding, emotional and can also hold his own in a fight with goons.

Overall, the 4K UHD Blu-ray of Matt Reeves' The Batman is a no brainer to pick up for any collector of physical media. The movie itself is one of 2022s best and the audio and video quality are spectacular!
