Awards season is well and truly under way as the Academy announced their Oscar nominations today. The nominations were mostly unsurprising, with Nomadland, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Mank dominating, but Judas and the Black Messiah and Minari both gained an impressive amount of nominations, in some surprising categories.
Controversially, Spike Lee and Delroy Lindo were completely snubbed for Da 5 Bloods while Thomas Vinterberg snuck in the Best Director line-up with Another Round which is also nominated for Best International Feature. Sound Of Metal also surprised by snagging nominations for Paul Raci and Riz Ahmed as well as Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay and Best Sound.
The Oscars will air live on April 25 and until then, we can only speculate who takes home those golden statuettes.
