Netlfix is full steam ahead this fall season with a slew of original shows and movies hitting the streaming service this month. In preparation for their October programming, they have released the first trailer for their film Rebecca, based on the book by Daphne Du Maurier. Rebecca was first adapted for the screen in 1940 by Alfred Hitchcock. This time around, Ben Wheatley (Kill List, High-Rise, and Free Fire) is at the helm with a script written by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service), Joe Shrapnel (The Aftermath and Seberg) & Anna Waterhouse (Frankie & Alice and Seberg). The synopsis from Netflix reads as follows:
A young newlywed arrives at her husband's imposing family estate on a windswept English coast and finds herself battling the shadow of his first wife Rebecca, whose legacy lives on in the house long after her death.
With Lily James and Armie Hammer as the newlyweds, the film also stars Kristen Scott Thomas, Ann Dowd, Keeley Hawes, and Sam Riley. Rebecca will premiere worldwide on Netflix October 21st.
