It’s been 662 days since The Force Awakens hit cinemas, 260 days since we found out episode VIII would be called The Last Jedi and 179 days since we got the last proper Star Wars trailer. Since then, fans have been eagerly searching for any details as to when they would get another glimpse at the film.

The eagle-eyed among them found their answer in a now-deleted tweet from Mark Hamill, who suggested that Star Wars fans keep an eye on the football this Monday night. Eventually, Disney/Lucasfilm cracked and revealed that the trailer would be revealed at the half-time mark of the NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears.

It was at this point that director Rian Johnson chimed in to say that although the trailer is ‘gooooood’, it was a bit spoiler-y and that ‘If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it’, as it shows you a lot more of the film’s content than the teaser that came five months ago.

Having seen it, I can confirm that it is indeed gooooood. Even better, despite fears that this may seem like a Empire Strikes Back rehash due to the appearance of the AT-M6’s on the white planet of Crait, this trailer confirms that the film is definitely it’s own, very dark, very unique story. It is, however, full of some very interesting revelations that may be best saved for the film, as Johnson suggested.
