With all the hype around the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently focused on Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, it seems like it was about time for another Black Panther trailer. Just so that fans can be reminded that it too is coming to cinemas in the not-too-distant future.

Once more highlighting the advanced, miraculous technology of Black Panther’s home nation of Wakanda, the new trailer dives even more into the mythology of the character than it’s four month old predecessor. You can check it out for yourself below:

However, while there are many new elements being brought into the Marvel Universe with Black Panther, there are also many factors that are reminiscent of previous films in the MCU. Black Panther having different suits with different functions à la Iron Man, for instance. A minor villain who uses some deadly, hand-held tech (see: Shocker in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Whiplash in Iron Man 2) and a primary villain who is just a twisted variant of the hero. Surely we’ve moved past this stuff by now? Does Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger have to have his own Panther suit?

Also, does anyone else find it strange that all the trailers for other Marvel superhero movies feature some sort of (generally) orchestral music, as you would find in a film’s score, but both Black Panther trailers instead feature rap-esque music?

Still, this will be the eighteenth film in the series, so they probably know what they’re doing.

Black Panther hits cinemas on February 9th 2018.
