After the success of their browser-based, choose-your-own-adventure game, , and their debut Steam release, , return with the third game in the franchise, .  Players can look forward to engaging the world and all its mysteries as they fly, fight, and come into contact with various cosmic-horror monstrosities.

Known for their narrative-focussed approach to design, award-winning writing is a huge expectation for a Failbetter project. You never knew what harrowing tale of despair and madness was going to ensnare you in Fallen London and exploring the felt like a genuinely dangerous and doom-filled endeavour, so taking flight into the build of Sunless Skies and finding out what delights and delusions await you in (their first explorable world, with others coming later in development) is a tantalising prospect.

The developers make no bones about Sunless Skies providing a fairly skeletal (ha!) gameplay experience compared to what players can expect from the full game, but Failbetter have made good on the promise of Early Access before, by actually taking player feedback into consideration and making Sunless Sea a better game because of it. The aim is to do something similar with Sunless Skies, to guide development with the comments provided by the community to make a more intuitive, yet intimidating experience.

Sunless Skies will be coming to and on the 30th of August. backers will receive keys, while Steam and GOG users will be able to purchase the game with a 10% discount off of the full release price of £18.99 / $24.99.
