I’m sure that when you think of the Wild West the last person you would ever think of is Baldrick, but in this three part series Tony Robinson delves into the real Wild West. He gets out of what Hollywood has told us about that era of American History, and armed with unseen pictures of the West Robinson goes into the nitty gritty of this wonderfully interesting era.
The Real Wild West

Although this first episode is based on General Custer I would advise you to watch epsiode 2 and episode 5 of this series, these two certain episodes I found the most interesting as they deal with the injustice that came onto the Indians who were native to America. If you watch the full series, which I strongly suggest you do, it basis each episode on a famous character from the Wild West and tells their colourful life story.
Billy the Kid: The True Story

Billy the Kid is my favourite character from Wild West history, I find his short life filled with such drama that it’s hard to not get hooked on his life story. As far as I’ve managed to find, this documentary is the most in-depth I’ve found about the whole life of this western legend.
American Holocaust of Native Americans

Opening with the powerful quote “The only good Indian, is a dead Indian” (General Phillip Sheridan) this documentary is the first in it’s kind, as it opens up the comparison of the Jewish holocaust during WW2 to nearly undocumented American Holocaust which claimed the lives of 19 million native Americans (over three times more deaths than recorded during the holocaust of Jews during WW2). I find the Wild West incredibly interesting, but we cannot forget what price the native Americans had to pay.
